Oh BAAO, My Baao; WTF is wrong with YOU?

BAAO, Camarines Sur - described by Wikipedia as a 4th class municipality in the province of Camarines Sur, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 46,693 people in 8,496 households.

Hometown of famous personalities; to name a few:

Senator Joker Arroyo
Bishop Jorge Barlin - The First Filipino Bishop
Fr. Joaquin Bernas S.J. - Dean of Ateneo Law School
Beatriz Saw - PBB Season 2 BIG Winner

Yesterday,

BAAO once again made the news, this time in TV PATROL world of ABS-CBN.
It was the first time I saw my town BAAO being featured in a major TV newscast.

I asked myself: What's the interesting news about BAAO for it to be featured in TV Patrol?

Here's a clip I got from YOUTUBE:

I thought at first that Julius Babao would feature the beauty of the place or the hospitality of its people. I was wrong.

The news is about the flood throughout the whole Peninsula of Bicol particularly the Barangay of Sta Eulalia in Baao, Camarines Sur.

I asked myself again:

Why would they feauture Sta. Eulalia, Baao Camarines Sur when it was reported by INQUIRER that the major affected areas of the flood were Masbate, Sorsogon and Albay? And if I would recall, the heavy rains which caused the flood was reported about 4 days ago already.

The logic is: If the flood-prone provinces of Masbate and Sorsogon were not in the news anymore, does it mean that the governement of those areas have already made ways on how they have controlled the flood 2 days ago? And BAAO which is not a prominent flood-prone area in Camarines Sur still has not yet managed how to control the F****** flood in Sta. Eulalia?

or Is there anybody out there who cares about Sta. Eulalia?

That is

TWO HUNDRED RESIDENTS were affected and still nobody cares?

TWO HUNDRED hungry RESIDENTS and still nobody cares?

What the hell is our local government doing to control the flood?
A flood which has surfaced the barangay of Sta. Eulalia for about three or four days already?

And did I hear the ABS-CBN reporter right?
"NGO's were the ones helping those people in the barangay?"

What happened to the LOCAL GOVERNEMENT?
What are they doing?

I was expecting someone I knew from the local government to appear in the news just to say something about the flood or maybe to reach out some relief goods but none of them is present.

Where in the hell are these people hiding?

MAYOR

BONGCAYAO, QUIRINO JR. G. 9,341
VICE-MAYOR

BADIOLA, NORMAN EDUARDO P. 9,047
COUNCILORS
1 BOLALIN, MIGUEL JR. B. 8,011
2 BUENA, LUCY B. 7,987
3 BRIONES, VICTORIA B. 6,780
4 BEDURAL, EDWIN P. 6,657
5 BALLESTEROS, ZEFERINO JR. B. 6,189
6 VARGAS, ANALYN B. 6,174
7 BUSTILLA, JAYSON PEDRO JR. B. 6,017
8 BACSAIN, EDUARDO B. 5,926

Those were the figures or the number of votes that made them elected officials of the town.

and I ask them one thing now: Can all of you please return the favor?

Or would you just want us to believe that you were just 10 imbecile and morons wherever you are in your seats right now?

BAAO is composed of 30 BARANGAYS(not 29) and about 50.000 people. And you should serve each and every one of them.

Sta. Eulalia needs your help and all I can do right now is pray for those 200 plus residents living in that area that they could see light by the next morning and walk, not swim, the next time they set their feet on the ground.

"Pa-Timog" na

The Philippine Daily Inquirer headlines today that "Typhoon Mina" spares Bicol region and is now heading to the provinces of Aurora and Isabela.

This is a good news indeed for all Bicolanos as our prayers have been answered.

Proofs That You Have Really Enjoyed Your Childhood Living In Baao

Too bad I can't go to Baao this Halloween. I just decided to make an ala Bob Ong's "Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng Libro Ang Mga Pilipino?" but this time, it's about my beloved home town "Baao". I hope you will enjoy reading and answering this one. Never mind of the instruction. The more you knew about Baao the better it wopu.

Note: this "fun facts" are for people who were born in Baao during the mid '80s and '90s

You're a Baaoenyo if...

You probably know where "Paayay-ayayan" is. Bonus if you know what is inside that place.

During August, you and your friends argue which school got the best majorettes in town. Is it SMA or Baao High School?

You prefer "JAMSLOCK" sweet offerings over Nestle or even Magnolia. It's the cheapest in town.

You're still curious who's that man in a statue standing at the center of the public market with a round cap on his head. CLUE: You're stupid if your answer is Jose Rizal.

You prefer calling that place as "BULUANG" rather than "San Antonio".

"Bravo" is more popular than business tycoon Henry Sy.

You enjoyed "Makuto" rather than Monterey.

You have seen the mysterious drawing/miracle with Jesus image in a Banana Tree at Baao West Elementary School during the late '90s. It gained media attention.

You know the lyrics or chorus of the song "Mingga Lukban- Mingga tubo". Additional point if you know the great composer of this song.

It's easier for you to call it "PERDON" rather than Turtle Cable Network.

You probably know now what the term "pabuntog" and "pantomina" means and when and where it is done.

You are familiar with the digits "266" and "4432" and you know that they have nothing to do with evil.

During summer, your choice for family/barkada bonding is either in "Baao Recreation Center" or "Villa Marietta". You get a bonus point if you have experienced swimming "Ki Palna"(dam) or "Burabod" and another bonus point if you have "an-an" after your enjoyment there.

You know that "Arkie" has nothing to do with architectural designs rather you know him as your Parish Priest. Bonus point if you know his full name.

You've probably heard "yay-ya" do the Karaoke.

You know that "Pay-Ling" has nothing to do with Chinese cult. It is your classmate's favorite hang-out place during their cutting classes or after school.

You're aware of the mysteries happening at the back of the "Patio"(patyo).

You got addicted to "KEYSPACE" and "YOUTHLINK" because of counter strike even though "JLLB Computer Center" has been in town even before the 2 shops emerged.

Your kin is very proud when one of your relative or family member passed either the Bar Exam(lawyers) or the Board Exam(nurse, teachers, engineers, architect, etc). It doesn't end there. The first thing they would do as soon as they have heard the news is to put streamers around your barangay or poblacion congratulating him/her. Classic right? Tarpaulin would soon be invented in Baao in 2010.

Your summer/christmas vacation would never be complete if you have not attended any Clan Reunion (Tribung Badong, Bustilla, Bigay, Imperial) or any organizational gatherings in Baao such as the now defunct Anchors Family Inc., Spiders Fraternity Inc. and Meddlers in San Jose. Of course, program must start with a Holy Mass followed by a motorcade around thepoblacion . Another classic. Now that you are a grown-up citizen, you prefer the Alumni Homecoming of your beloved Alma Mater because it always has a Beer Party.

And the top proof that you're really a pure blooded 1000 percent Baaoenyo(sorry for the enye), ...

Your surname starts with the letter "B".
